Professional skills and experience:

Executive company director with skills developed over a working life of 40 years. Included are two separate skillsets : one covering management experience and the other covering engineering experience. Having followed a route that moving on through a telecommunications apprenticeship into control system maintenance, and thereafter into systems engineering and project management roles, I have acquired a comprehensive range of engineering skills and management expertise.

Managing people has been a significant component of this experience and I have supplemented my practical work with targeted skills training in specific areas, such as ‘leadership and teamwork’, ‘life coaching’, ‘project management’, ‘performance coaching’ and ‘business excellence’. This has given me a deeper understanding of how to motivate individuals within a team environment and extract optimum performance levels from divisional and project team structures.

• I am a Chartered Engineer ( C.Eng ) and I am registered via FEANNI as a European Engineer ( Eur Ing ).

• I am a Member of the Institute of Engineering Technology ( MIET ), formally known as the Institute of Electrical Engineers.

• I have a first class honours degree ( BSc Hons ) in Computer Technology.

In addition to my engineering background I have had responsibility for business development since 1990 that has included establishing international representative and agency networks and front end sales/marketing. I have initiated successful key account development strategies, undertaking formal ‘sales’ and ‘key account management training’ as I have progressed through my career.

• I am a Fellow of the Institute of Sales Management ( FISM )

My company management background has included Project Director, Divisional Director and Managing Director positions where my management motivational skills were seriously tested in both difficult and developing management situations. I also negotiated the sale of a UK company to a US organisation, handling all aspects of the sale including due diligence, financial and legal matters.

• I am a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institiute and Chartered Manager (CMgr)

I have excellent communication and people skills – a major asset that has successfully taken me through the various aspects of my experience.
